According to Yahoo Finance, Taiwan’s Financial Supervisory Commission has announced that, starting October 2026, virtual asset service providers (VASPs) must comply with the Travel Rule when transferring virtual assets. For any single transfer exceeding NT$30,000, the sender must provide the customer’s date of birth and address for identity verification by the recipient. The measure will be implemented in phases: starting this October, it will first apply to transfers between VASPs within Taiwan, with transfers involving VASPs outside Taiwan expected to be implemented by the end of 2027. VASPs that fail to integrate these procedures into their internal controls or do not properly transmit required data may be fined between NT$500,000 and NT$10 million under the Anti-Money Laundering Act.

Taiwan’s Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC) has announced new cryptocurrency regulations requiring virtual asset service providers (VASPs) to implement transfer rules beginning in October 2026. Transfers exceeding 30,000 TWD will require the recipient’s date of birth and address for verification. The implementation will prioritize domestic VASP transfers first, with cross-border compliance required by late 2027. Non-compliance may result in fines of 500,000 to 10,000,000 TWD under the Anti-Money Laundering Act. This development marks a significant step in strengthening oversight of virtual assets.
