South Korea’s Mirae Asset Group plans to build a 150 trillion won digital asset business around its Digital X subsidiary. According to The Korea Times, Park wants Digital X to become a central pillar of Mirae Asset’s next phase of growth.

Moreover, management aims to make the digital asset operation profitable by 2027 through investment products and blockchain-based financial services. Mirae Asset may provide Digital X with 300 billion won in additional capital, equivalent to approximately $218 million.

Additionally, the group could arrange a third-party allotment of 200 billion to 300 billion won in early 2027. However, the financing will depend on Digital X’s earnings improvement and wider business development plans.

Digital X Targets Crypto, Stablecoins, Tokenization, and Onchain Finance

Mirae Asset established its digital asset foundation by acquiring a 97% stake in South Korean cryptocurrency exchange Korbit. Mirae Asset Consulting completed the acquisition in July before renaming Korbit’s operating company Digital X.

Digital X will concentrate on cryptocurrency, stablecoins, real-world assets, and security token offerings as its four principal business areas. Besides operating exchange services, the company plans to tokenize assets including gold, silver, and electricity through blockchain infrastructure.

Digital X also intends to develop financial products combining digital assets with Mirae Asset’s established investment management capabilities. Moreover, the company plans proprietary investments while building an onchain financial ecosystem around blockchain technology. These activities could extend Digital X beyond trading into asset issuance, investment products, settlement systems, and tokenized market infrastructure.

Mirae Asset Plans Global Platform Combining Traditional and Digital Assets

Park described the initial objective as making Digital X a core component of the broader “Mirae Asset 3.0” strategy. He also outlined a longer-term plan for a global platform combining traditional investments with blockchain-based products.

Significantly, Digital X would operate at the platform’s center while drawing support from Mirae Asset’s international financial network. Nevertheless, achieving the 150 trillion won target will require sustainable earnings, regulatory compliance, and demand for tokenized products.

Mirae Asset’s ownership of Korbit gives Digital X an existing exchange, customer base, and established domestic market presence. Meanwhile, the planned capital injection could support technology, compliance systems, product development, and expansion across additional digital asset sectors.
