Boerse Stuttgart Digital completes Tradias merger, forms 300‑person institutional crypto unit Boerse Stuttgart Digital and institutional trading firm Tradias have closed their merger after clearing a regulatory ownership control review, creating a unified digital-asset business with roughly 300 employees focused on European institutional clients. The deal, first announced in February, brings the two regulated entities under the Boerse Stuttgart Digital umbrella while preserving Tradias as the dedicated brand for trading services. Financial terms were not disclosed. What the combined business will offer - Services: trading, custody, staking and tokenization for banks, brokers and other financial institutions. - Operations: managed from Frankfurt and Stuttgart, with teams across Athens, Beirut, Berlin, Dubai, Madrid, Milan and Ljubljana. - Leadership: Tradias founder Christopher Beck and Boerse Stuttgart Digital MD Ulli Spankowski named co‑CEOs. Client and product overlap Boerse Stuttgart Digital already serves major institutions such as DZ Bank, DekaBank, Intesa Sanpaolo and Société Générale‑FORGE. Tradias brings an established institutional trading and market‑making operation covering more than 150 cryptocurrencies and digital assets, with clients including flatexDEGIRO, dwpbank and European government institutions. Retaining the Tradias trading brand aims to preserve market recognition while integrating infrastructure and services under a single regulated platform. Regulatory and market context The merger comes as European banks increasingly add crypto services under the Markets in Crypto‑Assets (MiCA) regime. Earlier this year, DekaBank tapped Boerse Stuttgart Digital’s regulated brokerage and custody infrastructure to launch institutional crypto trading; at the time DekaBank had crypto custody approvals from the European Central Bank and Germany’s BaFin, while Boerse Stuttgart Digital secured authorization under MiCA. Broader strategic push: Seturion and tokenized markets The transaction dovetails with Boerse Stuttgart Group’s wider push to expand blockchain‑based financial plumbing. In September the group launched Seturion, a blockchain settlement platform for cross‑border tokenized asset trading that supports public and private ledgers and settlement with central bank money or on‑chain digital currencies. Boerse Stuttgart says Seturion can cut settlement costs by up to 90% and removes the need for each participant to hold a dedicated DLT licence. Recent additions to Seturion’s network include Société Générale, SG‑FORGE and flatexDEGIRO, bringing tokenized structured securities, MiCA‑compliant euro and dollar stablecoins and retail brokerage order flow onto the platform. Boerse Stuttgart has also indicated Nasdaq’s European trading venues are expected to connect to the network. Why it matters By combining Tradias’ trading and market‑making capabilities with Boerse Stuttgart Digital’s regulated custody and infrastructure, the merged entity aims to become a one‑stop institutional crypto provider in Europe — offering front‑to‑back capabilities for trading, custody, staking and tokenization to banks, brokers and public sector clients.
