Boerse Stuttgart Digital and Tradias have officially closed their merger, creating a combined digital-asset business of roughly 300 employees aimed squarely at institutional clients across Europe. The deal — first announced in February — was completed after regulators cleared the required ownership control procedures, the companies said in a Wednesday release. The merged entity will operate under the Boerse Stuttgart Digital banner, while Tradias will remain the dedicated trading brand. Management will be shared: Tradias founder Christopher Beck and Boerse Stuttgart Digital managing director Ulli Spankowski have been named co-CEOs. Financial terms were not disclosed. What the combined business offers - A full stack for institutions: trading, custody, staking and tokenization services tailored for banks, brokers and other financial firms. - Tradias’ trading desk and market-making capabilities covering more than 150 cryptocurrencies and digital assets. - Boerse Stuttgart Digital’s regulated infrastructure and custody framework, already used by banks and financial institutions. Operations will be run from Frankfurt and Stuttgart, with supporting teams in Athens, Beirut, Berlin, Dubai, Madrid, Milan and Ljubljana. Client footprint and strategic fit Boerse Stuttgart Digital counts institutional customers such as DZ Bank, DekaBank, Intesa Sanpaolo and Société Générale-FORGE. Tradias brings long-standing relationships with flatexDEGIRO, dwpbank and various European public-sector institutions. Keeping the Tradias name for trading services lets the merged group preserve existing customer recognition while consolidating services under a single institutional platform. Regulatory and market context The merger comes as European banks progressively add crypto services under the Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) framework. Earlier this year, DekaBank teamed with Boerse Stuttgart Digital to launch institutional crypto trading, relying on the company’s MiCA-authorized brokerage and custody setup — while DekaBank used custody approvals from the ECB and BaFin. Broader ambitions: blockchain settlement and tokenization The tie-up also complements Boerse Stuttgart Group’s broader push into blockchain-based financial infrastructure. Last September the group launched Seturion, a blockchain settlement platform for cross-border trading of tokenized assets across Europe. Seturion supports public and private blockchains, allows settlement in central bank money or on-chain digital currencies, and—according to Boerse Stuttgart—can cut settlement costs by up to 90%. The platform has since onboarded participants including Société Générale, SG-FORGE and flatexDEGIRO, and is intended to connect banks, brokers, trading venues and tokenization platforms; Nasdaq’s European trading venues are also expected to link up. Why it matters By combining Tradias’ institutional trading and market-making capabilities with Boerse Stuttgart Digital’s regulated custody and infrastructure, the merged group creates a consolidated institutional crypto service provider positioned to support banks and brokerages as Europe scales regulated digital-asset products and tokenized securities. The deal signals ongoing consolidation and maturation in the continent’s institutional crypto ecosystem.
