Akash’s AKT stakers approved a move from the network’s Cosmos blockchain to Solana on Monday, Nov. 2, with 97.27% of recorded voting power backing Proposal 346.
The onchain record marks the proposal as passed, with voting closing at 10:02:58 a.m. ET. Mintscan’s final tally shows turnout of 69.37% of bonded stake, above the 33.4% quorum.
Akash is a marketplace where users rent computing resources from independent providers. The approval authorizes its AKT token to launch on Solana after passing two independent audits, but does not yet move the marketplace or stop staking rewards on the existing chain.

Akash’s core team argues that the move would let it stop maintaining a standalone blockchain and rely on Solana’s security instead. Its current chain relies on about 100 validators, according to the proposal. The trade-offs include giving up sovereign consensus and native connections to Cosmos chains through IBC.
Token First, Marketplace Later
The approved proposal estimates the token launch two to three weeks after passage, conditional on audits of the token and migration portal. Holders will be able to exchange AKT 1:1 for SPL AKT, its Solana-native version, through a one-way portal open for two years from launch. Migrated tokens leave circulation on Cosmos, with no path back.
For staked AKT, the proposal specifies a single portal transaction that starts unbonding, claims outstanding rewards and queues the balance for migration. The tokens arrive on Solana after the 21-day unbonding period. Until cutover, AKT remaining on the old chain continues to support gas payments, staking and governance.
Moving the marketplace still requires audits, migration rehearsals and a separate cutover vote. Under the approved plan, old-chain inflation and staking rewards end at cutover. Existing leases then have a 90-day wind-down before the chain halts and the validator role and income end. Separate sunset and halt upgrades are also part of the governance sequence.
The proposal leaves the new emissions curve, the size of the validator continuity payout and the treatment of AKT not migrated within two years to be published before the cutover proposal.
