UFO OR ICEBALL? INTERSTELLAR VISITOR JUST DID SOMETHING NO ONE SAW COMING Whether you believe 3I/ATLAS is a UFO or a lonely comet from another star system it just dropped another cosmic bombshell: it's leaking water in a region of space where that shouldn’t even be possible. Scientists using NASA’s Swift Observatory pointed their ultraviolet telescope at it - and caught a faint but undeniable signature of water: hydroxyl gas (OH). That’s huge. Why? Because comets don’t normally “sweat” water this far out. At nearly three times Earth’s distance from the Sun, it should’ve been frozen solid. But instead, it’s pumping out water at 40 kg per second - like a firehose in space. The secret? Possibly sunlight hitting tiny icy grains from its surface, releasing hidden layers of ancient ice. Basically, this thing's bleeding its cosmic history into the void. Every interstellar comet is a wildcard. ‘Oumuamua was dry, Borisov was full of carbon monoxide - and now ATLAS is spewing water where that shouldn't be possible. Source: SciTech Daily
