I find the timing of these two recent SEC actions pretty interesting. On September 1, they proposed modernizing transfer agent rules, including blockchain-based recordkeeping. Only 16 days later, they opened a new path for tokenized US stocks to trade onchain. I mean we can build all the new trading infrastructure we want, but at the end it still needs to sit on top of an ownership record somewhere. If a tokenized share moves from one wallet to another, who is now the shareholder? Where is that actually recorded? And do the rights attached to the share move with it? Pretty happy to see the SEC working on both sides at almost the same time.
