A COINGECKO LISTING DOES NOT MEAN THE TOKEN IS SAFE @ChainAware ran 15,008 EVM contracts from CoinGecko and CoinMarketCap. Seven chains, 127 checks per contract. Same picture as the earlier top-10k study: rank is not a security signal. Across the full set: - high risk: 57.7% - suspicious: 24.9% - clean: 16.3% - honeypots: 156 BSC is the worst. High risk 67.4%, clean only 7.5%. Ethereum is not calm either: 66 honeypots, more than any other chain. The usual problems: - no mint cap: 35.3% - admin with no timelock: 35.8% - liquidity unlocked: 49.5% - upgradeable contract: 34.9%, and on 118 tokens a single wallet can rewrite it For marketing the takeaway is simple. "Listed on @coingecko on the site is not proof. It is a directory, not an audit. Before a campaign or a presale, check three things on live state, not an old screenshot. Is the LP locked. Is there a mint cap. Who can rewrite the contract. If that is not public, you are sending people into risk and calling it a launch.
