As per ChainCatcher, anonymous phone service Phreeli has launched in the U.S., allowing users to register with only a postal code and no personal or payment data. Zcash co-founder Zooko Wilcox serves as an advisor, recommending the use of zero-knowledge access passes. Phreeli has implemented the zero-knowledge proof encryption system Double-Blind Armadillo, which verifies billing without storing payment information. Users can pay with credit cards or Zcash and Monero. Phreeli founder Nicholas Merrill stated the company aims to address the issue of mainstream carriers collecting excessive data. Founded in 2019, Phreeli has raised $5 million in the past year and uses T-Mobile infrastructure.
