Huo Xing Finance reports, according to Korea’s Asia Economic Daily, Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund Temasek has decided to make its first investment in the South Korean stock market, having selected Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix as investment targets, and is currently engaging with the South Korean government to discuss the timing of fund deployment. Temasek manages approximately S$518 billion (around KRW 572 trillion) in assets, and this investment will be executed through internal direct management rather than outsourcing to external asset managers. Temasek believes that the storage semiconductor segment within the AI value chain is undervalued by the market. Recently, it has continued to increase its investments in AI-related sectors, holding stakes in major semiconductor companies such as NVIDIA, TSMC, and ASML, and is also one of the leading institutional investors in OpenAI and Anthropic. Temasek plans to raise the proportion of its AI-related investments from the current 6% to as high as 15% over the next five years. If successfully executed, this will mark Temasek’s first direct entry into the South Korean equity market.
