ChainCatcher report: According to a report by oracle provider RedStone, the total value of tokenized real-world assets (RWA) on the Stellar chain surpassed $3 billion in July, while the network’s DeFi total value locked (TVL) stood at only $213 million, revealing a significant disparity. The report notes that the pace of RWA issuance far outstrips the growth of lending markets and collateral pools, creating a bottleneck for on-chain asset utilization. RedStone attributes this growth primarily to four products: Amundi and Spiko’s overnight fund ($713 million), Spiko’s treasury fund ($536 million), Ondo’s USDY (over $533 million), and VuMe Bond 2030 ($500 million). Data from DefiLlama shows Stellar’s TVL at $232.72 million, with the lending protocol Blend locking up $150.03 million; however, only around $2 million in collateral pools accept RWA as collateral. The report argues that settlement timelines for traditional government bonds, credit funds, and money market funds are incompatible with the instant liquidation demands of on-chain lending, and that 24/7 price oracles are critical to enabling RWA as viable collateral. Stellar has already integrated 55 SEP-40 price sources from RedStone, covering government bonds, corporate credit, tokenized gold, and money market funds. Additionally, the report mentions that the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) plans to introduce its $114 trillion in custodied assets onto Stellar by 2027.
