The Stellar blockchain has officially launched Chainlink Data Feeds and Data Streams oracle infrastructure on mainnet. A key component of this partnership is entirely commercial: the Stellar Development Foundation has fully assumed the costs of running these oracles under the Chainlink Scale program.
This decision opens up a $3.54 billion tokenized real-world asset (RWA) ecosystem, which was previously relatively isolated.
"@Chainlink Data Feeds and Data Streams are now live on Stellar. The integration adds new capabilities for builders, helping to put more assets to work across DeFi applications for lending, trading, stablecoins, tokenized equities, and more." Stellar (@StellarOrg) posted on October 14.
However, the composition of this capital is unique—it consists entirely of conservative reserves, distributed across strictly regulated industries.
The ecosystem’s landscape is led by European fintech, with the Spiko platform digitizing Amundi’s EUR, GBP, and CHF interbank swaps, as well as eurozone treasury bills. In the U.S., the public sector is represented by Ondo Finance’s security products based on U.S. Treasuries and Franklin Templeton’s flagship money market fund.
Infrastructure liquidity is provided by Circle’s regulated U.S. dollar stablecoin, USDC, and Figure’s U.S. dollar stablecoin, YLDS, registered with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
Why are billions of dollars consistently idle on the blockchain?
The issue was that Soroban smart contracts within Stellar were previously completely isolated from the external world. Although the network held a large, highly liquid, and compliant asset reserve, it was unable to build a comprehensive financial ecosystem around these assets.
They cannot verify the value of these tools in real time or with accuracy. Billions of dollars sit passively on the blockchain, serving merely as digital warehouse receipts.
Even the most basic tools cannot be launched. For example, tokenized Ondo bonds cannot be used as collateral to automatically obtain stablecoins, because the system cannot immediately calculate the collateral’s liquidation value during minor market fluctuations.
Chainlink's integration completely eliminates this technical barrier. Low-latency data streams provide market quotes to Stellar smart contracts with nearly no delay.
This enables automated lending with second-by-second collateral ratio recalculations, allows for the secure liquidation of large institutional positions without systemic risk, and lays the foundation for prediction markets and perpetual contracts on tokenized stocks.

Given that RWA transfer volume on Stellar increased by a quarter over the past month and stablecoin market capitalization rose by 10%, the foundation has decided to subsidize this integration, which appears to be a practical and forward-looking business move.
By alleviating financial burdens on developers, Stellar is aiming to seize the position of the leading platform for structured DeFi, transforming passive billions in reserves into dynamic working capital.
Success!
