As per CaptainAltcoin, a new analysis from the aixbt account on X highlights growing concerns about Solana’s validator economics and decentralization. Solana’s active validator count has fallen to around 795, down from over 2,000 at its peak. Validators reportedly need to stake approximately 160,000 SOL to break even, creating a high barrier to entry. Smaller operators are exiting due to unsustainable economics, while larger players are incentivized through subsidies, such as Jito’s 37-week pause on JTO buybacks to fund validator MEV infrastructure adoption. A federal lawsuit and lack of buybacks at a low token price further deter capital deployment. The analysis suggests Solana is centralizing rather than decentralizing, with incentives breaking months ago and structural issues emerging.
Solana Validator Count Drops to 795, Raising Concerns Over Network Decentralization
CaptainAltcoinShare
Validator node numbers on Solana have dropped to 795, down from over 2,000 at peak. Node decentralization is under scrutiny as validators now need to stake 160,000 SOL to break even. Smaller operators are leaving due to poor economics, while larger ones benefit from subsidies like Jito’s paused JTO buybacks. A federal lawsuit and weak buybacks at low prices are also limiting capital flow. The network appears to be centralizing, with structural issues now visible.
