On September 9, the independent site world.xyz of the Solana-based prediction market platform World officially launched, opening to over 1 million users on the waitlist. Markets cover all NFL regular season games, seven major football leagues, F1, the 2026 midterm elections, and the next Federal Reserve interest rate decision.

Since July, World has been running embedded within the Phantom wallet, with over 150,000 markets launched cumulatively. However, on the day the standalone site launched, traffic far exceeded expectations, causing the website to become overloaded and go offline temporarily.

According to an official post from world on the morning of September 10, traffic that day was sufficient to "literally overload the site." The team temporarily shut down the site for repairs as a precaution and emphasized that all funds are safe; reward activities will resume after the fix. As of the time of posting, the site remains offline.

The direct driver of this traffic surge was the official launch of the first-trade reward campaign.

According to community feedback, the activity process involves creating an account, linking an X account, and completing one prediction trade, after which rewards are paid out in CASH, a Phantom USD stablecoin. The official has not released a fixed reward schedule; rewards vary by individual, time period, and eligibility. Some users report receiving $378, while the community suggests the maximum reward can reach approximately $500.

Crypto influencer Chen Xiaomeng posted that rewards are tied to the number of followers on an X account, with 10,000 followers corresponding to approximately $80. This claim has not been officially confirmed, but the community generally views it as a potential logic behind the campaign design. Technical issues also arose during the campaign, with users reporting that their USDC deposits did not arrive, deposit addresses changed after refreshing, or they did not receive rewards after completing transactions. Participation is restricted in certain countries, and not all global users are eligible to claim rewards.

In fact, World entered the public eye earlier. Foresight News published an article on June 30 of this year titled “World, Yet to Officially Introduce Itself, Appears in Phantom’s Prediction Market Disclosure,” at which time World had not yet launched specific features, but it was already listed in Phantom’s prediction market disclosures.

The world settlement system is entirely built around the stablecoin CASH. CASH is a USD-pegged stablecoin designed by Phantom for everyday use, with a 1:1 peg to the US dollar, issued via Bridge and Stripe’s Open Issuance platform. World’s prediction markets are presented in binary “yes/no” format, with both position opening and settlement conducted in CASH. Users can exchange USDC or SOL for CASH on the frontend to participate in trading, and all profits, rewards, and closing payouts are received in CASH. This design ensures that every transaction on world creates use cases for Phantom’s stablecoin, rather than relying on external settlement assets like USDC.

Phantom’s support for world extends beyond wallet connectivity. According to Phantom’s disclosure page, starting June 1, 2026, newly created prediction positions within Phantom will be powered by world Prediction Markets, replacing the previous providers Kalshi and DFlow. By integrating world first, it directly taps into the existing user base of Solana’s largest consumer wallet, which has been key to accumulating over 50,000 unique predictors in a short time.

After the standalone site launched, two paths operate in parallel: Phantom provides the frontend, wallet, Cash account, and user distribution; World provides the market protocol, order routing, and settlement logic; and Chainlink delivers high-speed market data and automated settlement via Data Streams and CRE, replacing traditional manual review or token holder voting mechanisms.

Data shows that World still lags significantly behind mainstream platforms. According to Dune data, World’s current total predicted trading volume is approximately $31 million, with around 53,600 unique predictors; in contrast, Polymarket recorded a total trading volume of approximately $2.34 billion in the week ending August 17, with about 573,000 active addresses in July.

World’s choice to use first-transaction rewards instead of points or airdrops for user acquisition is a pragmatic response to this competitive landscape. The design requiring X account linking helps identify real users, filter out bots, and leverage social sharing to expand reach. If community speculation is accurate that reward amounts are tied to follower counts, this suggests World prioritizes attracting users with established influence rather than merely pursuing address volume. According to official information, World currently has no points program and has not announced any token issuance plans.

From the perspective of the Solana ecosystem, world’s user acquisition campaign serves two goals: attracting new users to the Phantom wallet and expanding the circulation of the CASH stablecoin. According to CoinMarketCap data, CASH currently has a market cap of approximately $125 million, a significant gap compared to USDT’s $188.38 billion and USDC’s $74.31 billion. Every transaction and every reward distribution by world increases the real-world demand for CASH, while Phantom, as Solana’s largest consumer wallet, provides a potential distribution network for CASH through its user base.

It remains to be seen whether World can retain users after the trading reward campaign ends and convert first-time traders into long-term users.
