Foreign media suggest that as crypto applications shift toward more everyday consumer use cases, Solana may hold a more advantageous position in this round of competition. Mike Dudas, co-founder of 6th Man Ventures, said that Solana, which supports trading, payments, and settlement functionalities, is better suited to power products aimed at mainstream users.
A single chain supports multiple scenarios.
Dudas told Decrypt that in the future, most users interacting with on-chain services may not even realize they are using blockchain. An increasing number of applications are hiding technical details such as wallets, signatures, and on-chain interactions, allowing users to fund their accounts directly through methods like Apple Pay.
He believes that whether such products can succeed depends on whether the underlying network meets conditions such as 24/7 operation, low fees, deep liquidity, and near-real-time settlement. By this standard, Solana’s advantage lies not only in its speed but also in its ability to handle multiple types of fund activities simultaneously on the same network.
Mention Base and Robinhood Chain
Dudas also noted that enterprise-backed blockchains face different constraints in achieving business goals. He specifically mentioned Coinbase’s Base and Robinhood’s blockchain initiatives, suggesting that such networks are more likely to direct users toward products that generate revenue.
In his view, this incentive structure is not entirely the same as that of open public blockchains. In contrast, Solana is characterized by its willingness to accommodate a broader range of use cases, allowing everything from speculative tokens to stock trading-related applications to develop within the same ecosystem.
The SOL issuance proposal is also receiving significant attention.
In addition to application-layer discussions, Solana validators are currently reviewing a set of proposals related to token supply. According to reports, these proposals are categorized under SGP-0003 and primarily aim to accelerate the reduction of new SOL issuance and increase the amount of SOL burned through network fees.
Dudas stated that he supports reducing the new issuance of SOL. Recently, discussions surrounding the inflation rates of Solana and Ethereum have intensified, drawing increased attention to related governance proposals.
The meme coin ecosystem is still regarded as a source of resilience.
Dudas also noted that during the previous market downturn, the meme coin ecosystem on Solana demonstrated relatively greater resilience. He believes this resilience stems partly from Solana’s ongoing support for multiple use cases, rather than betting on a single narrative.
According to him, Solana’s appeal lies in its ability to support different types of applications on a single chain. As more products hide on-chain processes behind the front end, users may only experience payments, transactions, or transfers—without seeing the complex blockchain operations underneath.
