BlockBeats news: Over the past year ending September 6, the strongest-performing sector in the crypto market was privacy assets. The total market capitalization of privacy-focused tokens has increased from $7.1 billion a year ago to $33.6 billion, a rise of approximately 3.7 times, with nearly half of this market cap growth occurring in the past 30 days.
ZEC is the core asset driving the surge in this sector, having risen 2,496% over the past year, accounting for approximately 62% of the total market capitalization of the privacy sector, and climbing from rank #82 to #7. Over the same period, XMR doubled in price, while DASH, XMR, and ZEN all outperformed BTC over the past 90 days.
Over the past 30 days, 91.5% of the top 200 crypto assets rose, but only 25 assets gained over the past year. The privacy sector is the only category whose total market cap remains above its October 6, 2025, market peak, currently up 213% from that level. Excluding ZEC, the privacy assets index has still risen 85% over the past year, indicating that this rally is not driven solely by a single token.
