Mirae Asset to Invest $10.9 Billion in Digital Assets via Korbit

ChainThink reports that on August 28, according to Cointelegraph, South Korean financial group Mirae Asset plans to build a digital assets business worth 150 trillion Korean won (approximately $109 billion) through its cryptocurrency exchange, Digital X (formerly Korbit).

This is the group’s first time gaining control of a domestic cryptocurrency exchange through its subsidiary. According to The Korea Times, Digital X’s strategic focus will encompass cryptocurrencies, stablecoins, real-world assets (RWA), and security token offerings (STO).

Regarding stablecoins, the plan is to expand business by issuing proprietary tokens; regarding asset tokenization, a clear digital deployment strategy for physical assets such as gold, silver, and electricity has been outlined.

In July this year, Mirae Asset Consulting spent 141.4 billion KRW to acquire 97.15% of Korbit's shares.
