Matera and partners demonstrated the ANSI X9.150 QR payment standard at Money20/20, showcasing a single QR code supporting FedNow, RTP, and Solana-based USDC. The standard, approved in July 2026, aims to unify QR formats across U.S. payment systems. The demo highlighted decentralized systems and open-source collaboration. Payfinia confirmed testing with Star One Credit Union. ERC-20 tokens were not involved in the live demo, which was not a product launch.

ChainCatcher report: A consortium comprising CoreBank and instant payments software company Matera, embedded payments company Payfinia, Solana Foundation, and others conducted the first public live demonstration of the ANSI X9.150 standard at Money20/20 USA in Las Vegas. The demonstration showed that a single QR code on an invoice enables customers to pay via FedNow, RTP networks, or USDC on Solana, with business invoice records automatically updated afterward. The report states that X9.150 was approved as a standard by the ANSI X9 committee in July 2026, providing a unified QR code payment format for banks, payment networks, and software providers that supports account-to-account payments including FedNow, RTP, ACH credit transfers, Zelle, and stablecoins. During the live process, a small business sent an invoice with an X9.150 QR code; customers could scan it using a credit union banking app or pay and confirm via the Squads Altitude wallet using USDC, with funds settling within seconds and the ERP system marking the invoice as paid. Carlos Netto, Co-Founder and CEO of Matera North America, said the company has open-sourced its X9.150 reference software because a standard built by only one company is not a true standard. Jamal Raees, General Manager of Payments at Solana Foundation, stated that X9.150 gives U.S. businesses a single QR code usable across payment rails—customers scan it and pay with USDC, and the invoice is marked as paid within seconds. Payfinia, which provides embedded payments support to nearly 30 community financial institutions, reported successful testing via the Star One Credit Union mobile app. The report explicitly clarified that this demonstration was not a product launch. Participants in the X9.150 QR Code Consortium include Matera, Payfinia, Zelle (under Early Warning), and Solana Foundation.
