A lighthearted mix-up at Times Square has become a topic of conversation in the XRP community. David Schwartz, former CTO of Ripple, took a selfie in front of a billboard featuring actress Sydney Sweeney promoting the sports prediction platform Novig, prompting Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson to crack a joke.
Oops, wrong billboard
Got it this time
Schwartz then posted another selfie, this time standing in front of the correct screen. The billboard displayed Evernorth’s brand logo and its Nasdaq ticker symbol, XRPN.
Got it this time,” he wrote.
Evernorth is an XRP treasury company led by former Ripple board member Asheesh Birla, holding approximately 473 million XRP and raising total proceeds of around $300 million. The company began trading on Nasdaq this month and rang the Nasdaq closing bell on October 14.
Ripple marked this moment on X, calling Evernorth "a new milestone for the XRP ecosystem" and stating that it enables "XRP to operate through institutional strategies."
XRP fans read more into this post. An X user claimed that when Schwartz last mentioned Sweeney, XRP rose approximately 80%, from $0.98 to $1.78, before pulling back.
However, there is no indication in the article that Sweeney holds XRP, and Hoskinson’s comment was clearly meant as a joke.
