Franklin Templeton has partnered with HashKey Exchange to distribute its United States government liquidity fund across Asian digital asset markets. According to a press release, HashKey launched the Franklin OnChain U.S. Government Liquidity Fund through its Earn channel on August 24 for professional investors.
The product invests in United States government money market instruments and dollar cash assets through blockchain infrastructure. However, HashKey has restricted the offering to professional investors, meaning Hong Kong’s public cannot access the tokenized fund.
This limitation reflects the regulatory framework governing investment products within Hong Kong’s regulated digital asset sector. Additionally, Franklin Templeton gains a distribution channel connecting its asset management expertise with HashKey’s blockchain infrastructure. The fund records ownership and processes transactions on-chain, supporting transparent activity within a regulated investment structure.

Partnership Creates Wider Path for Tokenized Products Across Global Markets
Franklin Templeton executive Chetan Karkhanis described HashKey’s international network as central to the companies’ wider distribution plans. Both companies may expand their partnership beyond money market funds by introducing tokenized investment products across several jurisdictions.
HashKey’s platform spans Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo, Dubai, and Bermuda, creating several distribution routes for those products. However, every regional expansion would depend on local licensing requirements, investment regulations, and professional investor eligibility standards.
The agreement also strengthens Franklin Templeton’s position in Hong Kong, where it launched the territory’s first tokenized money market fund. That November 2025 introduction became the first project developed under the Hong Kong Monetary Authority’s broader Fintech 2030 modernization strategy.
Tokenized Government Debt Supports Expanding RWA Market
Meanwhile, real-world asset tokenization covers government debt, private credit, commodities, property interests, and several regulated investment fund categories. RWA.xyz valued the market at $38.2 billion on August 23, compared with $20.6 billion one year earlier.
Tokenized United States Treasury debt represented $15.6 billion, making government securities one of the market’s largest asset categories. Hence, the HashKey launch places Franklin Templeton within a growing sector where government-backed instruments already command substantial on-chain value.
The partnership expands Franklin Templeton’s Asian distribution while adding another regulated investment product to HashKey’s blockchain-based Earn business. Ultimately, professional-investor requirements limit access, although the agreement establishes a foundation for wider tokenized product distribution across regulated markets.
