Former Twitter CISO Michael Coates Joins Solana Foundation as Chief Information Security Officer

Huo Xing Finance reports that security expert Michael Coates announced on X that he has joined the Solana Foundation as Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), marking a new chapter in his career. Previously, Coates served as Head of Security at Mozilla and CISO at Twitter, and founded Altitude Networks, a startup focused on enterprise SaaS data security, which was later acquired by CoinList, bringing him into the crypto industry. Coates stated that he chose to join Solana because the chain currently processes hundreds of billions of dollars in stablecoin transactions daily, exceeding the combined daily transaction volume of most other cryptocurrencies. He noted that his future work will focus on integrating security capabilities into industry operations and application security infrastructure, addressing crypto-specific security challenges, and collaborating with policymakers and standards organizations to advance cybersecurity regulation.
