AI summary iconSummary
Fomo and Pump.fun battle for Solana trader flow as memecoin trading volume surges. Fomo hit six weeks of all-time high trading volume, with Solana driving over half its activity. Pump.fun countered with zero fees and new social trading tools, hitting all-time daily user highs. Both platforms use copy-trading, cross-chain features, and buybacks to win over users. Rising trading volume reflects shifting market sentiment, with the fear and greed index showing heightened speculative activity.

The Solana memecoin economy has a new storyline, and it reads like a streaming war. Two platforms, Fomo and Pump.fun, are fighting over the same finite resource: the attention and order flow of degenerate traders.

Fomo, a social trading app that has quietly built momentum throughout 2025 and into 2026, just logged its sixth consecutive week of all-time high trading volume. Solana accounts for more than half of its total trader flow. On August 6, the platform briefly overtook Axiom in daily fees, a benchmark moment that underscored how quickly it has scaled. Weekly revenue recently crossed the $2M mark.

Pump.fun fires back with social features and zero fees

Pump.fun, which launched in January 2024 and quickly became the default launchpad for Solana memecoins, is not sitting still. On August 7, the platform rolled out a new social trading feature, essentially a direct response to Fomo’s growth in the copy-trading and community engagement space. The result was immediate: Pump.fun reported new all-time highs in daily active users on its app.

Pump.fun operates under a fee-free model, which removes one of the biggest friction points for high-frequency memecoin traders who cycle in and out of positions dozens of times a day.

Then there’s the token. $PUMP, Pump.fun’s native token, has surged 87% over the past 30 days. Half of the protocol’s revenue gets routed into programmatic buybacks, creating consistent buy pressure that supports the token price as platform usage grows.

The distribution game

Fomo has leaned into copy-trading and cross-chain capabilities, letting users mirror the strategies of top-performing wallets and trade across multiple networks from a single interface. Pump.fun, meanwhile, is leveraging its incumbency. The platform’s bonding-curve model for token launches is well understood by Solana’s memecoin community, and its brand recognition gives it a built-in distribution advantage whenever a new feature ships.

There’s also a more aggressive dimension to the competition. Unverified reports suggest Pump.fun has offered top traders and key opinion leaders up to $30K per month in exchange for exclusivity deals, essentially paying influencers to trade on Pump.fun and nowhere else. Crypto lawyers who have weighed in on the practice note that such arrangements are generally legal, though they raise questions about disclosed conflicts of interest when those same KOLs are publicly recommending tokens to their audiences.
