Filecoin (FIL) climbed above $1 for the first time since May, hitting $0.9685 with a 20.1% gain. Trading volume jumped 1,026% to $396.66 million in 24 hours. FIL briefly reached $1.03 before falling back to $0.97, with $0.87 now a key support level. The Solstice upgrade could boost future growth by linking block rewards to verified transactions. Altcoins to watch include FIL as momentum builds.

Filecoin [FIL] broke out of a month-long range, pushing the altcoin above $1 for the first time since May. At the press time, FIL’s price surged by 20.1%, up to $0.9685, when it went over the $0.87 resistance, which previously blocked attempts to create a rally.

The surge was short-lived but pushed the price up to $1.03 before falling back down to around the $0.97 mark. The 24-hour trading volume also skyrocketed by 1026% alongside the price rally, up to $396.66 million.

This indicates that participation was up significantly during this time frame.

However, RSI stood at 78.05, which indicated an overbought territory. The resulting pullback from $1.03 towards $0.90 may be due to some early sellers locking in their profits.

That leaves $0.87 as the key level for the breakout. Holding above it would show buyers have absorbed the old resistance and could support another move toward $1.03. Losing it would weaken that demand and raise the risk of FIL falling back into its previous range.

Can network growth support FIL?

Filecoin’s breakout is further evidence of the way traders are starting to view Filecoin’s fundamentals.

A recent Solstice proposal may have added some credence to this new trend by focusing on one of Filecoin’s most publicized issues. This has been the bottleneck associated with the approval process for DataCaps.

The Solstice upgrade would tie block reward payments directly to verified transactional payments. Therefore, this implies that there would be a direct relationship between FIL’s economic model and real-world network utilization.

However, current FVM activity remains modest, with about 1,337 daily active addresses and DeFi TVL standing at $3.1 million.

This suggests the rally is pricing in future growth rather than strong usage today. Solstice strengthens that outlook, but rising network activity will be needed to sustain FIL’s breakout.

FIL’s rally puts $1 in focus

FIL’s breakout is now testing the psychological $1 level after the price reached $1.0299 before pulling back to $0.9685. The move has attracted fresh derivatives positioning, with open interest rising toward $284 million around the advance.

Futures volume also ran about 10 times higher than spot activity, showing that leverage is playing a major role in the push. That strength could help FIL clear $1, but it also raises the risk of sharper swings if traders begin taking profits.

Meanwhile, the former $0.87 ceiling has already held as support once, making it the key level beneath the rally. Holding $0.87 would keep the breakout structure intact and leave $1 within reach.

A sustained break above $1 could extend momentum, while losing $0.87 would weaken the move.

Final Summary

  • Filecoin broke above $0.87 as volume surged 1,026% as the price pushed past $1.
  • FIL needs to hold $0.87 and sustain demand for the breakout to continue.
