Odaily Planet Daily News: Cryptocurrency journalist Eleanor Terrett posted on X that Senator Angela Alsobrooks of the Democratic Party has informed her that the White House’s proposal to assign the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) the responsibility of enforcing the ethical provisions of the Clarity Act is an “unserious offer,” and that she would not support the bill if this were the sole enforcement mechanism.
Alsobrooks also said, "But we will build on this to strive for an agreement that holds all relevant parties accountable."
Alsobrooks was one of two Democratic senators who voted in May to advance the Clarity Act through the Senate Banking Committee. She previously stated that her continued support for the bill would depend on whether the final text includes strong ethical safeguards.
Currently, both parties are discussing the Clarity Act on Capitol Hill, with ethical issues regarded as the final obstacle to reaching a compromise.
