PANews, August 30: Cosmos Labs has released an analysis report on the security incident involving the EVM module. Between August 20 and August 25, attackers exploited a vulnerability in Cosmos EVM to steal funds from multiple Cosmos chains. After MANTRA was the first to notify, the Cosmos security team coordinated with approximately 40 chains to assess risks and implement mitigation measures. Six networks were compromised, with around $2.87 million in assets bridged and sold on DEXs; an additional $2.85 million in assets were sold on CEXs, and the attacker’s CEX accounts have been frozen and are pending investigation. Thirteen other networks with potential risks were promptly patched, halted, or otherwise secured, preventing further losses. The vulnerability was first reported via the bug bounty program on April 25.
