Cosmos Hub Restarts After 25-Hour Downtime, Recovers 1.227M ATOM from Neutron Attack

According to ME News, on September 24 (UTC+8), Cosmos Hub validators paused block production for nearly 25 hours following a Neutron governance attack, at approximately block height 33,086,740, and resumed operations at 20:00 Beijing time on September 23. After restarting, Cosmos Hub validators transferred approximately 1.227 million ATOM (valued at around $2.1 million) from addresses associated with the attacker to a new address, with plans to return the funds to their original holders. The attack originated from a Neutron accelerated governance proposal, during which the attacker gained administrative control over contracts related to Astroport and Drop, exposing assets worth approximately $9.4 million. Approximately one minute after the restart, the THORChain treasury returned about 169,000 ATOM from the attacker’s previously unexecuted swaps. Subsequently, an attempt by the attacker to transfer approximately 500,000 ATOM to Osmosis failed due to insufficient balance. (Source: Foresight News)
