In accordance with 528btc, Cardano is preparing an in-era hard fork to upgrade to protocol version 11, aiming to improve security, Plutus smart contract functionality, and on-chain governance without disrupting the Conway era. The proposal is currently under public review and supported by Intersect and the Hard Fork Working Group. Key updates include enhanced Plutus script capabilities, clearer ledger behavior, and stricter node-level protections. Ledger-level changes, such as unique VRF key enforcement and governance voting logic moved to the ledger, are intended to strengthen protocol security. The Plutus environment will maintain compatibility across versions V1 to V3, allowing developers to adopt new features without rewriting scripts. Performance improvements include support for array types, better multi-asset management, and faster list operations. The Cardano community is actively involved in the review process, with the Hard Fork Working Group continuing to meet bi-monthly to incorporate feedback.
