Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has warned that post-quantum crypto upgrades could slow blockchain performance without hardware improvements. He said throughput might drop by as much as 10 times. Post-quantum crypto replaces current algorithms with quantum-resistant ones. The U.S. NIST finalized standards in 2024, but Hoskinson urged caution. He cited potential performance trade-offs. Practical quantum threats may arrive by 2033, based on DARPA benchmarks.
