Blockchain news broke as Blockchain Capital converted shares into a 6% stake in Securitize, a tokenization platform that went public via a SPAC merger on July 1, 2026. The firm was an early adopter, tokenizing its Fund III into the BCAP token from 2017 to 2019. It also backed Securitize’s $48 million Series B round in 2021. Securitize has tokenized over $4 billion in assets, including BlackRock’s BUIDL fund, and generated around $295 million in tokenized shares on Solana and Avalanche.

Sometimes the best way to sell someone on your product is to let them use it first. Securitize, the tokenization platform that went public through a SPAC merger on July 1, 2026, counts Blockchain Capital among its most committed backers, and that relationship started because Blockchain Capital was one of Securitize’s earliest customers.

Blockchain Capital’s affiliated funds rolled over approximately 9.83 million shares into a 6% stake of the newly public entity, according to an SEC Schedule 13D filing dated July 9, 2026. The company now trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker SECZ.

From customer to investor

Between 2017 and 2019, Blockchain Capital worked with Securitize to tokenize its Fund III, creating the BCAP token. That was one of the earliest attempts at building a tokenized venture fund.

That conviction showed up in Securitize’s $48 million Series B funding round in June 2021, co-led by Morgan Stanley. Blockchain Capital participated in that round, putting real capital behind the platform it had already stress-tested with its own fund.

Now the BCAP token itself is getting an upgrade, transitioning to ZKsync infrastructure.

The SPAC merger and what came with it

Securitize completed its business combination with Cantor Equity Partners II, a special purpose acquisition company, to achieve its public listing.

The company has tokenized over $4 billion in assets on its platform as of mid-2026. That figure includes BlackRock’s BUIDL fund.

Securitize simultaneously tokenized its common stock on both Solana and Avalanche, creating around $295 million in tokenized shares.
