Bitwise CIO Matt Hougan said Bitcoin news could drive the asset to hundreds of thousands of dollars if traditional investors shift allocations toward Bitcoin and gold. He tied this potential to concerns about fiat currency purchasing power and rising government debt. Hougan also identified stablecoins and tokenization as key growth areas, listing Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, Chainlink, and Hyperliquid as top picks for inflation and tokenization themes. Zcash and Venice were noted for privacy and AI use cases. He highlighted Chainlink’s improved token economics, including buybacks and unlock schedules, and views stablecoins and tokenization as major drivers of crypto adoption. Fear and Greed Index trends may also influence investor behavior.
CoinDesk reports:

Bitwise Chief Investment Officer Matt Hougan said that if more traditional investors allocate a portion of their portfolios to Bitcoin and gold, Bitcoin’s price could rise to hundreds of thousands of dollars. He noted that rising government debt and concerns about the purchasing power of fiat currencies could increase demand for these assets.

Hougan also stated in the interview that stablecoins and tokenization will be two major growth areas for the crypto market over the next decade.

Bitcoin may benefit from institutional investment.

Hougan said that investors holding traditional portfolios of stocks and bonds still face fiat currency risk. He believes that allocating a portion of these funds to Bitcoin and gold can help reduce this risk.

“If this mindset becomes mainstream, you’ll see massive capital inflows into Bitcoin,” Hougan said, adding that Bitcoin’s price could reach hundreds of thousands of dollars.

He described Bitcoin as the best risk-adjusted investment in the crypto space, citing its potential to serve as a store of value as government debt and spending rise.

Hougan named Chainlink and Hyperliquid.

Hougan stated that Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, and Chainlink remain key assets for investors seeking exposure to themes of currency depreciation and tokenization. He also believes that Hyperliquid may join this group.

He noted that Zcash has garnered attention for its privacy features, while Venice has drawn focus for its AI applications, and pointed out that these projects are competing for a leading position among crypto assets.

When discussing Chainlink, Hougan said that the underlying business of the protocol remains strong, and improvements in tokenomics could benefit holders. He believes that token buybacks, revenue distribution, lower inflation rates, and a clearer token vesting schedule are significant changes.

He expects the crypto community to drive the adoption of better mechanisms that distribute protocol-generated value to token holders.

Stablecoins and tokenization may drive cryptocurrency adoption.

Hougan believes that stablecoins and tokenization will be key developments shaping the crypto industry over the next decade. He also noted that institutional adoption, regulatory changes, and a resurgence in decentralized finance activity will have an impact.

“The two major super-trends are currency depreciation and the rise of stablecoins and tokenization,” said Hougan.

He stated that these developments should be viewed over a multi-year horizon rather than focusing solely on short-term price fluctuations. His core argument is that Bitcoin may continue to serve as a store of value, while blockchain-based financial services will grow alongside the expansion of stablecoins and tokenized assets.
