Bitcoin breaking news: US spot Bitcoin ETFs saw $101.15 million in net inflows on September 2, reversing a $236.5 million outflow the day before. BlackRock’s IBIT added $115.45 million, while Grayscale’s GBTC lost $56.21 million. Ethereum, Solana, and XRP ETFs all posted outflows. Bitcoin news shows cumulative inflows now at $54.7 billion since January 2024.

US spot Bitcoin ETFs pulled in $101.15 million in net inflows on September 2, snapping back from a rough previous session that saw $236.5 million walk out the door. That prior-day exodus was the largest single-day outflow since late July, making the quick reversal all the more notable.

Meanwhile, spot ETFs tracking Ethereum, Solana, and XRP all posted net outflows on the same day. The divergence paints a picture of institutional capital gravitating back toward Bitcoin specifically, not digital assets broadly.

Where the money went

BlackRock’s IBIT was the dominant force, attracting $115.45 million on its own. That single fund accounted for more than the entire day’s net total, which tells you something about how the rest of the field performed.

Grayscale’s Bitcoin Mini Trust added $30.42 million, while Morgan Stanley’s MSBT contributed $7.3 million. Bitwise’s BITB rounded out the positive contributors with a modest $4.19 million.

Then there’s Grayscale’s legacy GBTC, which hemorrhaged $56.21 million. The fund has been a consistent source of outflows since converting from a closed-end trust to an ETF structure, as investors rotate into lower-fee alternatives.

Several major issuers, including Fidelity’s FBTC, recorded exactly zero net flows for the day.

Altcoin ETFs tell a different story

The contrast between Bitcoin and everything else was sharp. XRP spot ETFs saw roughly $7.2 million in net outflows, with the drain coming exclusively from a Bitwise offering. Ethereum and Solana ETFs also posted negative numbers, though the XRP figure stood out as the most clearly documented.

The bigger picture

Zooming out, cumulative net inflows into US spot Bitcoin ETFs have reached approximately $54.7 billion since their January 2024 debut. The total net asset value across the product category sits somewhere between $79 billion and $97 billion, depending on the source and methodology.

August 2026 was a particularly strong month, with Bitcoin ETFs accumulating roughly $3.52 billion in inflows. That made it the best single month of the year. September, by contrast, opened with whiplash: a $236.5 million outflow on September 1 followed immediately by the $101.15 million inflow on September 2.

Every dollar that leaves Grayscale’s flagship GBTC fund doesn’t necessarily leave the Bitcoin ETF ecosystem. A meaningful portion appears to rotate into lower-cost competitors like IBIT, which charges a fraction of GBTC’s management fee. That dynamic makes GBTC outflows less bearish than they appear in isolation, but the fund’s persistent negative flows do create selling pressure that other products must absorb.

A $3.52 billion monthly inflow works out to roughly $160 million per trading day on average. September 2’s $101 million figure falls short of that benchmark, especially when netted against September 1’s outflow.
