Aptos proposed AIP-137 to add quantum-resistant signatures, aiming to future-proof the network against potential threats from quantum computing. The plan introduces SLH-DSA (FIPS 205) as an optional account signature type. The governance process will determine its adoption. Current accounts will remain unchanged. This move positions Aptos as a forward-looking blockchain. Solana previously announced a similar initiative with Project Eleven.
