Aptos announces that its encrypted mempool feature is now live on mainnet, protecting against frontrunning and sandwich attacks. According to Jinseicaijing, Layer 1 blockchain Aptos has launched an optional new feature designed to help traders defend against MEV-related attacks, including frontrunning and sandwich attacks.
On Monday, Aptos announced that its Encrypted Mempool feature has gone live on mainnet. Users can opt to enable this feature, keeping pending transactions encrypted until block ordering is finalized.
Aptos states that this feature is primarily designed for institutions submitting large transactions on-chain, traders seeking to avoid MEV risks, AI agents, and developers.
Aptos says: "Today, when you send a transaction on any major blockchain, everyone monitoring the network can see details of your transaction before it executes—including the function you're calling, the assets and amounts involved, and the smart contract you're interacting with. Bots use this information to execute targeted trades or replicate your trading strategies."
Sandwich attacks are a form of MEV attack. According to Cointelegraph’s analysis of EigenPhi data, Ethereum traders lost approximately $60 million to sandwich attacks over the past 12 months through October 2025.
On Solana, according to a Bitquery analysis of an 11-month observation period, sandwich attacks generated $29.7 million in profits for bots. The analysis identified nearly 6.9 million attacks affecting approximately 2.2 million wallets.

Aptos has launched an encrypted mempool on its mainnet to combat MEV attacks such as frontrunning and sandwiching. The feature encrypts pending transactions before block ordering, targeting large on-chain actors such as institutions and traders. On-chain data shows that Ethereum traders lost approximately $60 million to sandwich attacks over the past year, while Solana saw $29.7 million in such profits. Inflation data remains a key concern for blockchain networks seeking to reduce transaction exploitation.
