Citing 36 Crypto, Anthropic's latest report reveals that AI agents have successfully simulated the exploitation of blockchain smart contracts, siphoning $550 million in a controlled environment. The study tested advanced models like Claude Opus 4.5 and Sonnet 4.5, which identified and exploited 207 out of 405 contracts across Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, and Base. The AI models also uncovered two zero-day vulnerabilities in 3,000 contracts, potentially worth $3,694 in exploits. Anthropic emphasizes the dual use of AI in both attacking and defending smart contracts, urging developers to adopt AI-driven security tools to mitigate risks.
