Long-End Yields and Oil Prices Remain Elevated, BTC Holds 77K After Weekend Pullback
🔍 Core Insights
  • 📊 Market Analysis
    • U.S. equities recovered last Friday following consecutive sessions of weakness, with the Dow Jones rising 0.98% and both the S&P 500 and Nasdaq gaining 0.43%. However, long-end yields and energy prices remained elevated, with the 10-year Treasury yield holding around 4.74%, the 30-year yield near 5.28%, and Brent crude closing around $92.7 per barrel. Continued U.S.-Iran tensions and the upcoming announcement of a new round of U.S. sanctions against Iran limited further expansion in risk appetite. Crypto market volatility increased significantly over the weekend. After breaking above $79K last week, BTC briefly pulled back to around $75,800 amid short-term profit-taking and thinner weekend liquidity, before rebounding above $77K. In the short term, the $75K–$76K area remains the key support zone, while $79K–$80K represents the main resistance range. If BTC can hold above $77K and break through $80K on renewed volume, the rally could continue; otherwise, repeated high-level volatility and further profit-taking remain risks following the sharp advance.

    • Capital flows are providing near-term support for the market at elevated price levels. U.S. spot BTC ETFs recorded approximately $1.9 billion in net inflows last week, while ETH ETFs attracted around $697 million, bringing combined inflows to $2.6 billion—the strongest weekly inflow since October 2025. BTC ETFs posted net inflows for five consecutive trading days, while trading volume increased from $6.9 billion in the previous week to $22.1 billion. Meanwhile, the Coinbase Bitcoin Premium Index turned positive for the first time since May 19, ending a record 97-day period in negative territory and indicating a marginal recovery in U.S. spot demand. However, approximately 53,000 BTC flowed into exchanges over the past three days, primarily from short-term holders, suggesting that profit-taking pressure is also increasing following the rally. If ETF inflows continue and the Coinbase premium remains positive during U.S. trading hours, allowing new demand to absorb the additional exchange supply, the current consolidation would more closely resemble healthy position rotation after a rally. If exchange inflows continue to rise while the premium turns negative again, the risk of high-level profit-taking developing into a deeper correction would increase.
Macro Economy
  • U.S.-Iran tensions: The U.S. Treasury Secretary confirmed that the administration will announce “unprecedented economic isolation” measures against Iran, warning that any country providing financial support to Iran will face equivalent isolation. The measures will primarily target purchases of Iranian oil, money transfers, and ship-to-ship crude oil transfers at sea. He also said that large-scale military action is no longer expected to be necessary. Meanwhile, Iran’s parliament approved service fees for vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz, payable in currencies designated by Iran.
  • The preliminary U.S. S&P Global Manufacturing PMI for August came in at 53.2, below the 53.9 forecast and the previous reading of 53.9. The preliminary Services PMI reached 56.8, above the 54.0 forecast and the previous reading of 54.6.
  • The U.S. imposed a 50% tariff on approximately $20 billion of Canadian exports early on August 22. Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said trade negotiations with the U.S. had been suspended and that Canada would impose reciprocal tariffs of 50% on U.S. goods.
