SAHARA is the native utility and governance token of Sahara AI, a decentralized AI–native blockchain and platform designed for building, training, and monetizing AI models, datasets, and agents in a transparent, collaborative economy. Operating across Ethereum and BNB Smart Chain, SAHARA fuels on-chain interactions—from dataset licensing and usage payments to compute access—whilst empowering users to participate in the ecosystem's governance.

SAHARA powers multiple key functions on the Sahara AI platform:

Payments: Use SAHARA to purchase datasets, license AI models or Knowledge Agents, and pay for compute sessions.

Gas & Fees: As a cross-chain token, SAHARA is used to settle transactions on Sahara’s own blockchain, as well as Ethereum and BNB networks .

Staking & Governance: Lock up SAHARA to secure network operations and vote in the decentralized Sahara DAO.

Rewards: Earn tokens by contributing to data labeling, model development, bounty programs, and hackathons.

Founded in April 2023, Sahara AI has rapidly progressed through development and ecosystem building. In mid-August 2024, Sahara AI raised a significant Series A round from major investors like Pantera Capital, Binance Labs, Polychain, and Samsung NEXT—underscoring its ambition to decentralize generative AI. Ahead of its Binance listing on June 26, 2025, Sahara unveiled tokenomics and committed over 8% of total SAHARA supply to airdrops—emphasizing community engagement during its mainnet rollout.

SAHARA tokens serve several integrated roles within the ecosystem:

Utility Payments for datasets, licenses, compute, and agent usage.

Governance—token holders vote on DAO proposals affecting development, funding, and protocol policy .

Network Security—staking SAHARA helps secure the blockchain and DAO mechanisms .

Contributor Rewards—bounties, hackathons, and labeling efforts are rewarded with SAHARA to incentivize participation.
