At some point, RWA seemed to have become synonymous with TradFi—as if mentioning RWA only refers to tokenized U.S. Treasuries, equities, or ETFs. But that’s not the full picture. The concept of RWA is much broader: any real-world asset tokenized and traded via blockchain, regardless of geography, qualifies as RWA—real estate, art, intellectual property, and more. Because I hold a position in Ethena, I closely follow its developments. Recently, Ethena officially announced a new white-label partner: Manifest, a U.S. real estate RWA company backed by VanEck and ALLIANCE, has chosen Ethena to power its real estate-backed token, USH. What does this mean? Manifest is tokenizing U.S. residential home equity interests (HEIs) into USH, enabling global capital to participate directly in this $35 trillion market as easily as buying a stablecoin. - During its launch phase, 100% of USH’s liquidity reserve is backed by USDe; sUSH holders immediately earn rewards, even before the underlying property portfolio is fully built. - Over time, the reserve composition will gradually shift to 80% HEIs and 20% USDe—preserving long-term real estate appreciation while maintaining on-chain capital efficiency and composability. - This solves the common RWA challenge of rapid capital inflow but slow asset onboarding: initial yields come from USDe, with real estate returns added later. Additionally, Ethena’s tokenized USD has become the fastest-growing RWA asset on Solana, with its market cap recently surpassing $560 million.
