One of the biggest problems with bringing DeFi to another ecosystem is that you usually end up creating another market. Another deployment, another liquidity pool, another place where lenders and borrowers have to find each other. @RomeProtocol is testing a different approach with Compound V3 and Aave V3 running inside Solana. The Compound reference app, Aerarium, is a good example. MetaMask users can supply USDC, deposit collateral and borrow against it. Phantom users can perform those same actions using their Solana wallets. But here’s the important part. Both routes interact with the same Compound V3 Comet market. The liquidity isn’t split into an EVM pool and a Solana pool. Deposits, borrows and repayments update the same lending state. Rome has also deployed an Aave V3 reference implementation on its Hadrian testnet, using the existing Solidity contracts rather than rebuilding the lending engine in Rust. These are testnet demonstrations, not official Aave or Compound production markets. Still, the architecture opens up a compelling possibility. Solidity lending protocols could reach Solana users without forcing them into EVM wallets, while EVM users retain familiar interfaces and signing flows. For lending markets, that could mean expanding access to liquidity without multiplying the number of disconnected markets. The real test comes when production users, collateral and borrowing demand enter the picture. But the technical direction is clear: one lending market, two ways to access it.
