“Quantum-resistant multisig” is worth paying attention to, but don’t extend it to mean the entire chain is quantum-resistant. Squads developers’ test demonstrates how account permissions can be gradually upgraded. ① On October 14 (Beijing Time), Squads’ technical co-founder stated on X that they have tested Falcon-512 multisig signatures on the Solana mainnet and plan to integrate this support into future SquadsX releases. ② The key of the solution is to use a separate program to verify new signatures before they participate in multisig voting authorization. It does not replace Solana’s native transaction signatures entirely, nor does it automatically upgrade all wallets. ③ Developers specifically noted that the account paying transaction fees still requires an Ed25519 signature. While multisig control permissions can be separated from the transaction submitter, other cryptographic components of the system do not automatically gain the same protection. ④ Currently, “successful mainnet testing” is based on developer disclosures; no independently reproducible full test or audit evidence has been provided in this round, and security remains unverified. The final release scope and timeline also require further confirmation. My own assessment: What’s truly commendable is the upgrade path—not prematurely labeling it as “quantum-resistant.” The ability for account permissions to accommodate different signature schemes offers greater long-term flexibility. However, when it comes to asset control, compatibility, recovery mechanisms, and audit quality must keep pace. Verifiable security boundaries matter more than grand security promises. @Solana_zh @solana @multisig @SquadsLabs @gansersol
