Our very own Ave degen Zav (@zachvierrr) recently joined @andreasrtobing_ for a podcast, sharing his experiences in the memecoin trenches, biggest trading lessons, and thoughts on managing profits. Here are a few takeaways 👇 1. Big wins don't protect you from big losses. Zav shared one of his toughest losses while trading $IQ. With a position worth around $90K–$100K, he ended up losing roughly $70K in a single trade. After taking a short break with @itsberkah, they decided to restart with just 1 SOL. That grew to nearly 80 SOL in about three weeks, before dropping back to 5 SOL. XD Even experienced traders aren't immune to extreme volatility. 2. Know when your trade thesis is wrong. Zav also talked about using Candle Range Theory (CRT), adapted from forex trading, to identify not only entries but also invalidation levels. Before entering a trade, ask yourself: At what point would my original thesis no longer hold? 3. Understand the trenches before risking your money. Fast-moving prices, FOMO, and the urge to recover losses can quickly turn trading into gambling. Zav's advice to beginners? Learn how the market and its communities work, build a foundation in trading and risk management, and don't feel pressured to chase every new meta. 4. Making profits and managing profits are two different skills. Zav shared that he allocates around 75–80% of his realized profits to ETH for long-term holding, while also maintaining exposure to assets like LINK and ZEC. He personally prefers staying largely invested rather than holding significant amounts of stablecoins. Of course, that's his own approach, not a strategy that fits everyone. The biggest takeaway? Trading isn't just about catching the next 100x. It's also about managing risk, adapting to the market, and knowing what to do with your gains. What has the market taught you the hard way?
