Who actually moves the money on SN7? Miners. On Allways a miner isn't a person clicking buttons, it's software quoting rates and fulfilling swaps around the clock. The reference miner @allways_io ships is an agent itself. It posts quotes, manages collateral, fulfills orders on its own. Operators just extend it with their own pricing and risk logic. Think of miners like exchange booths on the same street. Each posts its own rate, and each leaves a security deposit with the mall. Best rate wins the customer. If a booth shorts you, the mall pays you out of ITS deposit. That deposit is the collateral, losing it is the slashing. Day to day a miner locks capital, SOL on Solana or TAO bonded in the Bittensor vault (only a LOCKED bond gets attested). Even a TAO-only miner pays a one-time 0.1 SOL anti-squat deposit to claim its identity. So how hard is it to mine here? MEDIUM. No GPU, no model training, no ML at all. Specs are Python 3.10+, Docker, and a Bittensor wallet. There's even a wizard (alw miner init) that walks the on-chain setup step by step and resumes if you rerun it. The coding starts when you want to compete. Quoting before activation gets rejected (MinerNotActive), and the team tells you straight up it's reference software, build your own safety on top before running it. The edge isn't hardware, it's pricing logic, risk, and capital to bond. Picture a trading bot holding SOL that owes a counterparty BTC. One API call, a miner on this subnet fills it, settled. No account, no KYC, no approval queue. As a builder I'd charge clients to set up flows exactly like that, cross-chain settlement as a service for teams that can't hire a blockchain dev. Follow if you like simple subnet explainers, I post weekly. 2/2
