250ms slots enter mainnet activation, Solana one step away from its 200ms goal. Anza confirmed on September 16 that the 250ms slot feature has entered the mainnet activation process, with an expected go-live at the Epoch 1037 boundary, approximately September 18, 05:01 UTC. The roadmap has progressively advanced from 400ms to 350ms, 300ms, and now 250ms. ① Shorter slots mean faster transaction confirmations, more frequent oracle updates, and timelier liquidations. ② Market makers may offer tighter spreads as a result, but validator network and hardware pressure will also increase accordingly. ③ The feature is being activated in phases to observe mainnet stability after each reduction, rather than pursuing maximum speed all at once. ④ The 200ms target still has no final mainnet launch date—do not treat the roadmap as complete. My own assessment: Latency advantages only matter if failure rates, fork rates, and node diversity do not deteriorate. Solana’s narrative is shifting from “peak TPS” to “sustainable low latency,” which is far more critical for real-world financial applications. @Solana_zh @solana @anza_xyz @solana_devs
