OpenSea just brought Solana NFTs back from the dead. Four years after a beta that covered maybe 165 collections and went nowhere, OS2 now lets you buy sell and bid on Solana-native assets like Claynosaurz Mad Lads Collector Crypt and Phygitals inside the same marketplace that already spans 25+ chains (approximate data, count varies by source). Timing checks out too. Solana came back to OpenSea in April 2025 through OS2 but only for tokens. NFTs were the second shoe everyone was waiting on and it just dropped, August 31. This puts @opensea on a direct collision course with Magic Eden and Tensor who never left Solana and built their whole base defending it while OpenSea was busy rebuilding OS2 from scratch. Funny enough Magic Eden did the opposite move earlier this year, shutting its Bitcoin and EVM marketplaces to go all in on Solana. Now both are fighting on the same turf again. Meanwhile SEA the OpenSea token stays shelved since March, still no new date. Product expansion clearly isn't waiting on tokenomics this cycle, frens. Question is whether aggregation beats native specialization when NFT volumes are already sliding from their 2021 peak, or whether this just splits an already shrinking pie thinner.
