Virtuals turns AI Agents into "ownable businesses" AI agents are evolving from software features into on-chain entities that can be funded and profit-shared. ① Virtuals Protocol has launched an agent tokenization solution on Solana. Users can create agents, raise funds for them, purchase intelligent services, and enable them to participate in the on-chain economy using their own wallets. ② This model seeks to connect ownership, capital, and revenue: agents perform tasks and generate income, with token holders sharing in the economic outcomes. Conceptually, it resembles a company more than just a chatbot. ③ The risks are equally straightforward. Issuing tokens and demonstrating automated operations is easy; consistently acquiring customers, controlling costs, and ensuring output quality are far more difficult. An agent without revenue may ultimately remain nothing more than a token wrapped in an AI facade. ④ My personal view: I am bullish on verifiable agent economies, but skeptical of “issue tokens first, find use cases later.” When evaluating an agent project, I prioritize real tasks, paying customers, and settlement records before considering token price—the order cannot be reversed.
