Solana network fees neared 9,200 SOL as on-chain activity hit record levels. Solana network fees rose to an average of nearly 9,200 SOL over the 7 days ending August 27, more than 80% higher than three months prior, amid continued strong growth in on-chain activity. Non-vote transactions over the 7-day period reached a record 191 million—more than double the 88 million recorded a year ago. Meanwhile, tips to validators via Jito averaged 2,073 SOL per day over the past week, up 26% from the prior week. At the same time, proposal SGP-0002 “Double Disinflation” was approved with 67,001% of votes in favor. Under the proposal, staking yields are projected to decline from approximately 5.25% to 2.25% by year three. The reduction in inflationary rewards may pressure validators heavily reliant on staking rewards rather than transaction fee income, particularly smaller independent validators.
