California just moved to ban politicians from launching memecoins AB 2409 passed the state legislature unanimously and is now on Gavin Newsom’s desk. If signed, public officials won’t be able to issue memes, while platforms will face restrictions on listing politician-linked tokens for California residents starting in 2027. The reason: conflicts of interest, pay-to-play schemes and politicians directly profiting from their public image. Memecoins just became a political problem big enough to get its own law 😃
