Hot take: @solanamobile missed an opportunity to strengthen the ecosystem they're built on. .skr domains, the Seeker ID system powering identity for Seeker phones, are built on AllDomains, not Solana Name Service. That's a choice. And it's worth talking about. @sns has native subdomain infrastructure. Solana Mobile could have registered/purchased skr.sol spun up names.skr.sol as the issuance endpoint, and delivered the exact same front end experience Seeker users have today. human readable identity tied to their device, first come first served, free to claim. The UX doesn't change. The brand doesn't change. The Seeker ID still says flippa.skr What changes? instead of spinning up a competing TLD that fragments the naming layer that activity flows through the protocol native to @Solana, sns. More registered names. More onchain identity volume. More reasons for wallets to integrate .sol resolution. @Phantom, @Solflare, @Backpack, @brave, @MetaMask, @multisig, and so many more. Deep Solana ecosystem integrations. They all resolve .sol. A .skr subdomain anchored to SNS would inherit that resolution everywhere, on day one. Instead, .skr lives on @alldomains, a separate protocol with its own resolver, its own integrations to negotiate, and its own ecosystem to build out. Solana Mobile didn't need to reinvent the wheel. The wheel was already there. It just needed a new hubcap that says .skr. This isn't shade at AllDomains, they're building & I have love for them. It's a reminder that ecosystem alignment is a decision, and sometimes the default path isn't the one that compounds.
