April 2026 Hacks April has been brutal for crypto security. In just the first 18 days, protocols lost over 606 million dollars across 12 incidents. That makes it the worst month for hacks since early 2025. Here are the biggest ones: - Drift Protocol (Solana DeFi perpetual futures exchange): 285 million dollars drained on April 1. Attackers exploited governance controls and oracle manipulation in under 12 minutes. - Kelp DAO (cross-chain DeFi / restaking protocol): 293 million dollars stolen on April 19. Currently the largest single exploit of 2026. The hackers then created bad debt on AAVE which is now frozen on ETH market on mainnet (biggest market) - Smaller incidents also hit Hyperbridge, Grinex Exchange, Rhea Finance and others, adding to the total pain. My take: This wave of hacks shows how tough the current bear market really is. With no altseason in the previous cycle from 2021 to 2026, liquidity is low, teams are stretched thin, and security budgets are often cut. It’s a reminder that even big protocols can fall when vigilance drops. 🪀 #BearMarket #CryptoHacks #CryptoSecurity
