1. What is Aleo and What Does It Do? Aleo is a decentralized platform based on Zero-Knowledge Proofs (ZKP), often described as "Programmable Privacy." Unlike other blockchains, privacy on Aleo is a default feature, not an option. Core Purpose: To protect our data on the internet while still allowing for personalized web experiences. It provides an ecosystem where you can remain private while interacting with smart contracts. 2. Technical Architecture: What Makes It Different? There are three main technical pillars that set Aleo apart from giants like Ethereum or Solana: Leo Programming Language: Writing ZK-based applications is traditionally very difficult. Aleo developed Leo, a language inspired by Rust and JavaScript, allowing developers to build private applications (dApps) without needing to be experts in complex cryptography. zkCloud: Most transactions occur off-chain, with only a "proof" sent to the blockchain. This makes the network incredibly scalable. While every node on Ethereum verifies every transaction, on Aleo, only the proof is verified. AleoBFT (Consensus): A hybrid model of PoS (Proof of Stake) and PoSW (Proof of Succinct Work). Validators secure the network while "Provers" solve complex ZK tasks. This optimizes hardware power for the network's privacy and security. 3. Investors and Financial Power Aleo is one of the favorite projects of "Smart Money" in the crypto world. Total Investment: Over $228 Million. Major Names: a16z (Andreessen Horowitz), SoftBank Vision Fund 2, Tiger Global, Samsung Next, Coinbase Ventures, and Slow Ventures. Valuation: $1.45 Billion (as of the Series B round). This backing shows that the project is not just an experiment but has the potential to become an industry standard. 4. Current Status (2025-2026) The Aleo mainnet went live in late 2024. Currently, the staking rate on the network is close to 70%. Additionally, work is underway on institutional solutions like USDCx (a privacy-focused stablecoin) following a partnership with Circle. @1HowardWu @apruden08 @eug33ne
