• Spot is selling. Perps are hoping. That's the whole trade right now. 📊 BTC -3.55% at 82,680 on $2.1B volume. ETH -2.88% at 2,425. The spot tape is heavy. But look at the perp side: funding on BTC, ETH, AVAX, ARB, SUI and LINK is pinned at +0.00125%. Longs are paying to stay long into a drawdown. Price down, funding flat — that's not capitulation, that's stubbornness. Spot leading lower while perp longs refuse to puke is the classic setup for continuation, not bottom. The divergence is sharpest in the alt tier. ARB +2.6% at 0.192 with 87.9M in open interest and positive funding — leveraged longs piling into a green name while majors bleed. LINK +2.44% at 12.22, same fingerprint. When beta is falling, crowding into the two green coins via perps is a squeeze or a bagholder event. No middle ground. SOL is the tell in the other direction: -1.94% at 105.44 with funding at -0.00086%. Shorts are paying to press a falling market. That's where the squeeze fuel is. Countertrade read: fade the positive-funding longs, don't fight the negative-funding shorts. The crowd is long majors into weakness and short SOL into strength. Both are wrong. Levels to watch: BTC — lose 82.6K and perp longs start liquidating into air. ETH — 2,400 is the line; funding stays positive below it, longs get carried out. SOL — funding flip back through zero at 105–106 is the squeeze trigger. ARB — 0.19 fails, that 87M OI unwinds fast. Watch funding, not price. Price lies about positioning. Funding doesn't.
